The care and health of our patients is our paramount concern at Shore Orthopaedic Group. We've listed some important information for patients preparing for any procedures, plus an index of common procedures for greater detail. Please contact any Shore Orthopaedic staff member if you have any questions.

Before Any Procedure:

1. STOP TAKING BLOOD THINNERS

  • Aspirin should be stopped 10 days prior to your procedure (if you take 1 baby aspirin for your heart you must discuss with Dr. Rathi)
  • Anti-inflammatory medication such as Aleve, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, Daypro, Indocin, Lodine, Relafen, Voltaren, Ansaids, etc should be discontinued 3 days prior.
  • If you take Coumadin, Plavix, Ticlid, Persantine please advise the office immediately if you have not already done so.

2. PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY:

  • IF YOU DEVELOP AN ILLNESS or are placed on new medication, especially antibiotics.
  • IF YOU THINK YOU MAY BE PREGNANT.
  • IF YOU HAVE HAD ANY PROCEDURE or are scheduled for any procedure including a colonoscopy, D&C, dental work, biopsy, removel of skin lesions, or other surgery within 2 weeks of your procedure with Dr. Rathi.

3. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT

  • IF YOU ARE TAKING DAILY HEART OR BLOOD PRESSSURE MEDICATIONS, take them with a sip of water the morning of the procedure as you normally would.

4. YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY AFTER THE PROCEDURE

  • YOU MUST HAVE A RESPONSIBLE ADULT TO BRING YOU IN AND TAKE YOU HOME.
